Meet The Doctor
Endodontist Arthur L. Cole, DDS
Dr. Arthur L. Cole is a Board Certified Endodontist serving the Clarksville community with over 27 years of experience in the specialty of Endodontics. He earned his B.A. degree from New Mexico State University and his D.D.S. degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, graduating with Honors. He completed specialty training in Endodontics at the U.S. Army Dental Activity, Fort Gordon Georgia.
Growing up, education wasn’t a priority in Dr. Cole’s large family. His father had a third-grade education and only two of his six brothers graduated from high school. Dr. Cole didn’t make it past eight grade and joined the Army at age 17. After serving in Germany during the Berlin Crisis of the early 1960’s, Dr. Cole applied for officer Candidate School, but was denied due to low scores on a military IQ test. Rather than give up, he took GED courses, attempted the IQ test again, and improved his score by more than enough to get into Officer Candidate School. He served in Vietnam as an Armor officer and three years in the U.S. Army Special Forces.
Following his service as a line officer, he was drawn to health care. After completing his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, he served as a general Dental Officer in Nuremberg, Germany before beginning his residency and specialty training in Endodontics. After multiple assignments, he spent the last five of his 30 years of active duty service at Fort Campbell and subsequently opened his Endodontic specialty practice in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Dr. Cole has been a member of the American Association Endodontists since 1984 and completed a three-year term as a representative of his region on the American Association of Endodontists Board of Directors. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the International College of Dentistry, the European Association of Military Endodontists, the Tennessee Dental Association, the Southern Endodontic Study Club, has been Secretary/Treasurer of the Tennessee Association of Endodontists since 1994, the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Society, and the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. In addition, he is the American Association of Endodontists District III Director representing Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Dr. Cole has been married to his wife Pat for 48 years. He maintains a busy private practice and resides on a large farm raising Black Angus cattle for organic beef. The Coles have two married children, Nancy Cole Stimson and Matthew Cole. They are also the proud grandparents of Audrey Stimson and Tristen Cole.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures with well over 14 million performed every year. This simple treatment can save you natural teeth and prevent the need for tooth extraction, dental implants or bridges. For further information contact us at 931-552-8066.
Root Canal Surgery
Endodontic (root canal) surgery can be used to locate fractures or hidden canals that do not appear on x-rays but still manifest pain in the tooth. Damaged root surfaces or the surrounding bone may also be treated with this procedure. The most common surgery used to save damaged teeth is an apicoectomy or root-end resection. If you are a candidate for a surgical procedure, your doctor will discuss this with you.
